How One Family Beat Back Childhood Nightmares Using Nanna Maggie's Original Under-the-Bed Monsters
We have a solution to nightmares. We now sleep quiet and we sleep restful. Indeed, we help other families deal with their personal world of nightmares, night terrors, and just plain fretful sleep. One child at a time.
At one time or another, every child imagines ghosts, monsters, alligators or some other such scary things under the bed or in the closet. This is usually a ploy for attention, unless they were allowed to watch some scary movie. Anything with blood, screaming people or creepy sounds is usually scary enough for kids to always remember, while they're lying on their beds alone in the dark.
Nanna Maggie's Original Under the Bed Monsters (TM) has a story that took place in the DeWitt household some 13 years ago. When Rowan DeWitt, who is now 28 years old, experienced some very scary night terrors when he was a young boy.
Allow an explanation, "When Rowan was four years old, he experienced night terrors and would yell out, 'Get off me!, go away!' This disrupted our family life, as every night for a week or more, his screams would fill the house."
To help him, Rowan's grandmother, Nanna Maggie, crafted a unique stuffed animal and then called the family together for a special meeting. She introduced the originally designed stuffed animal to Rowan, saying, “Rowan, this is a monster. It is your monster. It is very powerful and it gets to know you once you hug it. When you embrace It immediately sees you. It sees what you like and what you don;t like, but most importantly, it sees what you are afraid of.
So after you hug it and it knows you, you place it under your bed and it will fight off all those things that scare you when they comes into your dreams. And as time goes on, you will see evidence that your Under-the-Bed Monster is alive and well because it poops dust bunnies and it eats single socks!
That night, Rowan had his first peaceful sleep in more than two weeks!. From that first night on, he enjoyed comfortable nights, free from night terrors.
This story inspired the creation of Nanna Maggie’s Original Under the Bed Monsters as an altruistic project aimed at providing children a sense of security and comfort through a combination of knowing the plush toy and the accompanying children's book.
